HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15t-df000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15t-df000.

It's about 18 months old and the touch pad is not working well and I can see that the case is splitting open at the edge.
This has happened to me with other laptops and I;m 99% sure it's a sign that the battery is swelling up and putting pressure on the touchpad and prying the case apart.

So I'd like to replace the battery. But all of the videos online for how to do it seem to be of some other HP Spectre x360 that doesn't look like mine. There are no screws to open the case just two little... I dunno what to call them. They look like screws but they are not - they are little little asterisk-shaped holes.

There's another post here on the forum about tipping off the foot pads and there being screws under there, but I peeled them back a bit and I still don't see any screws and that can't be right, anyway, can it? What do I do after I rip them off? How would I get them back on?

Am I really going to have to go to a repair shop to change the battery?
Seems like the only official ones are Microcenter and they aren't close to where I live - not to mention I'm not thrilled about going into a big store like that during a pandemic.

Hi @SheckyS,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
