Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble with my HP Spectre x360 (running Windows 11 Home) where it won’t charge at all, and the battery is completely flat now. I’ve seen similar issues reported since 2017, and I’ve tried most of the recommended solutions without success. I’m hoping someone here might have some fresh ideas or insights.
Things I’ve tried so far:
- Updating Drivers & Windows - I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and I’ve installed all available updates.
- Uninstalling/Reinstalling Drivers - I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled battery and charging drivers.
- Hard Reset - I’ve disconnected the power cable and held the power button for 15-60 seconds, then reconnected the cable and tried powering it on.
- F6 Power Button Reset - I’ve tried the F6 + Power button reset procedure.
- Disconnecting the Internal Battery - I’ve disconnected the internal battery multiple times, but no luck.
- Tried Different Charging Cables - I’ve tried using a charging cable from another HP laptop and even bought a brand-new charger.
This issue has occurred before, and I was able to fix it last time by uninstalling the old battery (which turned out to be incorrect) and reinstalling it, but this time, it hasn’t worked. The laptop still won’t charge, and the battery remains flat.
Interestingly, the new HP laptop I purchased has storage limitations (only 50GB) and crashes frequently with a few YouTube tabs open, so I’ve resorted to using my older HP, despite a different charging issue and it being at least 10 years old.
I’ve seen support posts suggesting that HP engineers can fix the problem easily, but if that’s the case, why isn’t the solution shared publicly? It’s getting frustrating, especially since I’ve been a loyal HP user for years.
I’m not convinced it’s the battery, as it was charging sporadically before going flat. My guess is the issue could be software related.
If anyone has faced this issue or has a solution different to the things I have already tried, I would really appreciate any help. I’d love to resurrect my Spectre, but if the issue persists, I might have to consider switching to another brand, maybe one with an AMD processor instead of Intel too.
Looking forward to any suggestions!
Thanks in advance!
