Hello.

I recently started having an issue with my laptop, where it will charge to around 76% and suddenly stop charging, even though it is still plugged in. I found an HP website saying to use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool to test the battery and see what the issue is. When I did this, I got an error saying something along the lines of "battery status: replace (42)" and "blown fuse".

Should my next step be to buy a replacement battery? If so, where could I find a genuine HP battery replacement? I do not see the option of buying one from the HP Parts website.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have Battery, 6-cell, 79-WHr, 3.43-AHr, Li-ion 902499-856 installed on the PC. Just enter the part number 902499-856 in Google search, and you will be able to locate one.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for the response.

Should I try to find an HP-brand battery, or should I not even bother?

Thank you for posting back.

Preferably HP branded would be great if not you can try with similar battery cells.
