HP Spectre x360 - 15-ch011dx

Hi,

I have an HP Spectre x360 15-ch011dx and the USB-C no longer charges the laptop. I just bought a 65W USB-C charger and 100W USB-C cord from my local microcenter. At first when I plugged everything in, my laptop started charging.

After about 2 hours, the laptop stopped responding stopped responding to the charger.

I have tried the following solutions but to no avail:

-In device manager, I selected USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) and unselected Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power under power management.

-I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) in device manager

-I tried holding down the power method

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I just experienced the same issue. My HP Spectre x360 Convertible was just over two years old and both charging ports eventually stopped recognizing the charger. I've been in the midst of trying to finish my PhD thesis so I was hoping it would hold out at least until I submitted, but, it didn't. The computer won't turn on now.

Do you have an update on your situation? I'm curious because I ran into another unexpected but major issue when I tried to save my data and files by transferring the hard drive to another computer but when I brought it into GeekSquad they said the hard drive is no longer accessible. And I'm now debating paying a crazy amount of money to send my hard drive out to experts in a last-ditch attempt to retrieve my data.

Sorry to hear about your laptop. I feel your pain.

I brought my laptop to a local microcenter store and tested both charging ports using the chargers that are connected to the laptops on display.  Both charging ports worked.

The fix was simply don’t cheap out on the charger/wire/adapter.  Not all cords are made equal.  Go with a reputable brand (HP specific chargers were super expensive, Acer was half the price and it worked fine.).   Also, try to get a charger with 90W for efficient charging.

Thank you very much! I'm glad to hear everything worked out in the end!
