This my 3rd encounter with this particular issue. My HP Spectre x360's AC Adapter suddenly failed with a "popping noise" and the USB-C port emitted several sparks while plugged in. When this happened, I noticed the battery indicator went from "charging orange" to blank -- no longer charging. Having had a USB-C power supply issue with this laptop several times before where the motherboard also sparked and burned (fixed eventually), I immediately unplugged the current AC adapter from that USB-C port for electrical fire safety concerns.
USB-C port #2 seems to be functional (I borrowed a colleague's adapter, and it worked fine without issue). USB-C port #1 no longer works with any adapter. Additionally, trying to plug in my original adapter into the other USB-C power-compatible devices that usually receive charge no longer elicited a charge response. It seems that both that USB-C port #1 and the AC adapter had a sudden electronic/mechanical failure similar to issues in the past. I have noticed multiple sparks and burning smells from USB port #1 when the computer gets hot. I'm concerned that this could be a tremendous electrical fire safety issue, as I continue to have electrical components popping, hissing, and failing.
Can someone from HP assist?
