HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

My daughter opened my HP Spectre 360 laptop recently and found the screen was cracked. It had been stored in its neoprene cover, within a shoulder bag with her school files. The crack looks like a smal bullet hole with surrounding cracks, about 5cm diameter mostly, with one or two cracks reaching further to the top and bottom of the screen. The laptop stil works, but the touchscreen no longer works. I understand from other questions that the screen is expensive to repair. I see from online searches that this is a common problem with HP Spectre laptops and I am disappointed given it was around £800 to buy. We are big HP users with 3 HP laptops in the family currently, but may not be so loyal in future as this is poor value for money. I have also had problems with this laptop falling off wifi, requiring me to reset the network adapter frequently.

What is the cost for HP to repair this in the UK and how do I go about getting it repaired? The product is around 3-4 years old, so well out of warranty.

Thanks, Joanna

That is an impact crack and came from something hitting it or from closing the laptop on something. This is a common problem with any laptop that sustains an impact to the screen or the laptop is closed on a hard object. Touchscreens are expensive to replace. Figure at least 250 pounds. Warranty was never going to recover the replacement unless you bought the add-on insurance. If we had the exact model number we could locate the replacement part for you and your best option is to have a local shop do the work.

Hi,

I know it is an impact crack. I am disappointed that the laptop lid is so thin and flexible that this can happen.

My laptop product code is L0B62EA#ABU. Please let me know the cost of the replacement screen and whether there is a shop that can repair it near either of the following UK postcodes: HP18 0JF or BH25 7AL.

Many thanks, Joanna

You misunderstand what the Forum is. I live in the USA. I do not have any way to recommend a shop to you.

But this is the part you need:

13.3-in, FHD, WLED, BrightView (1920×1080), UWVA, 2.55-mm in natural silver finish for use only on computers with model numbers 13-4000 through 13-4099 801495-001

This UK seller has it:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-801495-001-Component-Components-Spectrum-13-3-inch/dp/B016O8TNPO/ref=sr_...

HP Parts Store is on backorder but you can see the price HP charges for it:

https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=BEE1AE557BDD454BA2BBDFE052D49F8C&SearchIn=P...

Much better price:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-Spectre-13-X360-13-4050na-13-3-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-FHD-LCD-Display-...

You might contact the Seller and see if they know a shop near you for installation or if you can find a tech-savvy person to help or you are willing to take screwdriver in hand we can find you manuals and videos for DIY help.

Good luck.
