HP Stream 13 Upgrade

This is not a question but some important information.  I did not know how else to post it.  My posted problem and solution with the HP Stream 13 maxing out was fixed by my simply installing Windows 10 from a USB stick I had. That freed up well over 10GB of space from the recovery partition that was removed, but I had no room to install Open Office, Paint Shop Pro, Google Earth, and Fox it PDF Reader.

I just discovered that Best Buy is having a blowout sale on micro SDXC cards.  You can get a 64GB card for only $11.99, and a 128GB is only 19.99.  That is a savings of $78 and $120!   There are two methods for installing added programs on a micro card.  YouTube comes in handy here, but there are tech sites that have at least two options.  If my wife does not "blow a gasket," I am going to get a 64GB.  If she is in a real Christmas spirit, I will get the 128GB.  Either one should make my laptop virtually up to par with my desktop with the added plus of portability.  I will let you know how it goes.

Bad news.  The SDXC is not a micro card and it does not come with a convertible option.  It will not work.

The SSD is 32GB installed on motherboard and is non-replaceable.  I have located a generic micro 128GB card for only $8.94 on eBay that has good ratings for use as a program drive on a laptop.  I made the mistake of going ahead and purchasing the one that Best Buy had before I looked closely at the package and tore the packe open.  To cover my derriere, I have purchased a USB reader-adapter  so I can still use this card on both my Stream and desktop, but I want the micro card as my program storage drive because it does not protrude fom the laptop.

As soon as I left the board the other day, I began wondering if I could utilize an SD microcard for installed programs.  I went to a YouTube video and found the answer.

I already had a 16GB card installed and decided to utilize it first as a test.  I first installed Windows 10 from a USB stick instead of the 8.1 that came on the laptop that kept trying to upgrade to 10.  I wiped out the useless recovery partition and used it for more space.  As I said in another post, the drive maxed out with all of the updates and left me with virtually no room for any program additions.  I wanted to install Open Office and Google Earth Pro, but that had been impossible.  

Following the instructions on the video, I successfully installed both Open Office and Google Earth with no additional SSD space used.  SInce the SD microcard is meant for storage and not for repeated over-writing, I do not know how long it could take that abuse, so I will store any documents created to either a flash drive or online Drop Box free storage.  I found a 128GB Micro SD SDXC Universal Flash TF Memory Card Class 10 For Camera Phone that someone else said works well on his laptop as a progam drive for only $8.94.  It gets very good reviews even though it is generic.  At that price, it is worth a shot.

Lousy picture, but notice the space taken by  both Open Office and Google Earth are on the SD micro card.  I still kept the 7GB free on the motherboard  SSD.  I do apologize for the picture that I made with my smart phone.  It appears that I should have set it to flash mode.
