Hello all,
I am looking for a refurbished tiny notebook like an HP Stream 14 but I can't find out in HP database if some HP Stream 14 items have been delivered with a matte display. When searching with the reference 14-cb0nnnXX (n=number, X=letter) the HP page always says "BrightView" while I know it can be wrong: I have checked it always says the same for HP Stream 13 notebooks while I know some have been delivered with matte display, including mine! Looking for the specs based on the serial number does not work: error message "no assistance blah blah blah".
So does someone know if I can find a HP Stream 14 with a matte display from factory instead of a glossy one? No option for me with the extra cost and time of buying a 14" matte display and replacing the delivered glossy one 😉
If some HP Stream 14 items have been delivered with a matte display, I will then manage asking sellers who often have a very strange opinion on what means glossy and matte for displays.
Thank you!

It appears all the Streams came with Brightview. I have one and it is definitely glossy. Glossy panels actually cost a bit less because there is one less step in the manufacturing process. The matte finish is a coating that is not present on a glossy screen.

Thank you @Huffer for sharing your experience. Mine is differe%nt: I own a HP Stream 13 from late 2015 that was delivered with Windows 8.1... and a definitively matte display! But it was 8 years ago and the economic war has become tougher. And HP could have decided over years to cut costs even more by saving a few dollars with glossy displays instead of matte ones. Your input makes sense in that way.
I can check on notebookcheck.net that some HP Stream 13 were delivered with matte displays like mine while most or all HP Stream 14 were delivered with glossy displays:
- HP Steam 13 => https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Stream-13-Notebook-Review.142796.0.html
- HP Stream 14 => https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Stream-14-N3060-HD400-Laptop-Review.291758.0.html and here https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Stream-14-z050ng-Notebook-Review.128817.0.html
But I will keep on asking sellers if their HP Stream 14 items come with a glossy or matte display. Who knows? I might be lucky. In case I find one quite soon, I will get back here to report it.
