I am attempting to add my HP USB-C Dock G5 to my HP Support Assistant to keep it updated. It fails to recognize the device when I have it search for it and when I enter the serial number. How do fix the issue?

I see that you are facing an issue with adding of your HP device to HP support assisyour PC/Laptop.

 

Kindly refer to the steps on this link add your device and let me know if that resolves the issue.

 

If the issue still persists, uninstanll the HP support assistant application and restart your device.

 

Reinstall the HP support assistant application by click on this link.
