Spectre 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

My Spectre 360 laptop wouldn't update Windows to the 1903 update because apparently the BIOS was out of date, but I kept checking in the Support Assistant and there were never any updates to the BIOS listed. It does show updates now and then but I finally looked in the Software and Drivers section of my online account here and there was a BIOS update listed there, so I downloaded and installed it and it seems to have gone fine.

Why didn't it show up in Support Assistant and are there other important updates I'm missing because of it?

Why?  Unknown - lots of variables.  Complicated code and perhaps one of the conditions just did not trigger the check for this fussy (and unique) update (BIOS).  ??

It is just as well that the HP Support Assistant did not find and try to update the BIOS automatically - this works most of the time but can also "go sideways" and complicate everything.

Consider:  Most of the time the manual check and installation of the BIOS is a better option.

Reminder – Manually Update the BIOS

How to install BIOS Updates:

Select the option to manually install the BIOS update.

HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)

HP Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)

Open HPSA Software

Settings > Set to “Notify” as opposed to “Auto-Update”

Save Changes > Restart the computer and log in

Open HPSA

Check for Updates > Use the list to determine candidates for update

If BIOS is offered, set to “ignore” or otherwise remove from list of potential updates

Install other HP software and updates using HPSA or manually install those updates
