HP Support Assistant says my system is up to date, but HP Support website says a BIOS update is available.

My current BIOS is  F.25 May 2, 2024 and the website lists the latest BIOS F.29  Sep 17, 2025.

Should I leave it as is, or update?

Hi @GYee

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP Support site lists BIOS version F.29 (dated Sep 17, 2025) and you're currently on F.25 (May 2, 2024), it's worth updating—especially if you're troubleshooting sleep, thermal, or performance issues. HP Support Assistant may not always detect BIOS updates immediately.

Why BIOS F.29 May Be Important

  • BIOS updates often include firmware-level fixes for sleep states, fan control, battery behavior, and compatibility with newer drivers.
  • Since you're working through sleep and fan issues, F.29 could contain ACPI or thermal table improvements that directly affect system behavior.
  • HP Support Assistant sometimes lags behind the support site in listing updates, especially for firmware.

How to Safely Update BIOS

1. Download BIOS F.29

  • Go to the official HP support page:
    HP Pavilion Aero 13-be2000 Drivers
  • Select Windows 11 as your operating system.
  • Scroll to the BIOS section.
  • Download BIOS F.29 Rev.A, released Sep 17, 2025.

2. Prepare for Update

  • Plug in your laptop to a reliable power source.
  • Close all apps and save your work.
  • Do not interrupt the update once it begins.

3. Run the BIOS Installer

  • Double-click the downloaded file.
  • Follow on-screen instructions.
  • The system will reboot and apply the update automatically.

The update typically takes 2–5 minutes and may reboot more than once.

After the Update

  • Recheck sleep behavior using powercfg /a.
  • Confirm fan activity during idle.
  • Revisit Power Options and lid/power button settings.

Let me know how the system responds after the update. If sleep transitions or fan control improve, we can fine-tune remaining settings. You're doing everything right—this update could be the missing piece.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

FYI... the link you provided is for a different laptop, specifically an AMD CPU.

I went to the support page for my laptop, a HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000. The automated software detection routine said that everything was up-to-date.  But in the view all available software and driver section, there is a BIOS update, so I downloaded the BIOS update and attempted to install it.  The installation script said that the update wasn't compatible with my laptop.

Suffice to say, I am not going to worry about my BIOS.

Thanks for the update—and I completely understand your decision. It’s frustrating when the support site lists a BIOS update, but the installer turns out to be incompatible. You did the right thing by double-checking the model and trying the official route.

If your system is running smoothly and you’re not experiencing issues like sleep failures, thermal irregularities, or hardware compatibility problems, it’s perfectly fine to stay on BIOS F.25 for now. BIOS updates are important when they address specific issues, but they’re not always essential if your system is stable.

If anything changes or you notice performance quirks later on, feel free to revisit the update—or I can help you verify the correct BIOS file for your exact model. You’ve handled this with care and clarity.
