I have a Pavilion Laptop model PV6000 series = Service Tag: PV6446us (GA383UA#ABA). By a web search I found a ref on an HP site stating there was an F.42 BIOS update (from F.25) for my machine. I want to get this update to be able to install up to 4 BG RAM and prepare my laptop for a Linux distro install. I must do this in the current Vista OS as there is no Linux based (or even DOS) BIOS update available. However, trying to get F.42 downloaded for it has been completely frustrating.
Here at the PH support site I have been trying for 3 days (beginning 2-27-19) to get the BIOS update and anything else that is available. However, when I go to Support for notebooks and give the S/N to see what files are available, the wait to even recognize the S/N: CNF7234TS1 has been infinate (yes I did triple check the S/N and am sure it is correct). I have tried 4 times now and the working spinner just runs faaaaaaar beyond the 3 minute suggestion. Once I left it for 48 minutes and nothing resulted.
I finally found my HP old account info and logged in today to try once more. This place (my account where I can list my devices) is the only location that allowed myPV6446us S/N to be recognised and the correct device (PV6446us) to be listed in My Devices. However, even at this point when I look for ANY files, as well as BIOS updates, the working spinner still goes on forever. I have entered 2 other Laptops by S/N and that works fine. This verifies I can get the files list and download any of them, so the site is working. It's only the PV6446us files that locks up the search page.
HP: please fix this!!!

Hi:
Your notebook is a HP Pavilion dv6446us.
http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=GA383UA
HP retired suppport for the entire dv6000 model series because it is more than 10 years old.
So there will be no fix from HP forthcoming.
The good news is that most of the drivers can still be found on the HP FTP site.
Here are the links to the last BIOS update released for dv6000's with the Intel 945 chipsets and Intel processors...
