HP ProBook 430 G6 ( 5TL27ES#ABD) & HP Tunderbolt 120W G2 (L14714-001)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi team,

I´ve used my ProBook 430 G6 with my Thunderbolt 120W G2 without problems for 3 weeks. After one week of no use the docking station is not working anymore. All usb ports and video ports are not working at the docking station. Only charging of theProBook through the docking station is working. If i connect the docking station the power lamp is not shining.

Things I tried so far without success:

- BIOS-update to the newest version

- Unistalled and updated all USB port at the ProBook

- Check if USB ports may be without energy due to energy saving properties at the ProBook (they have energy)

- Dowload Thunderbolt Software center due to updating docking station --> Not possible because the docking station is not found

- I tried to change the "Thunderbolt Security Level" in BIOS to "No Security" but in the ProBook 430 G6 BIOS version it is not possible

- HP Support Assitant --> All drivers at the ProBook are up do date

- Rest docking station --> Docking station without energy for more than 8 hours

Hardware rest of ProBook

I have no other ideas what I should try. Did anyome had the same problem and a solution for that? Or any other sugestion?

Cheers, StraM

Hello

I know I could ask you a stupid thing, but did you pres the docking power button ? did you seen the Power button LED is ON ?

you don't need Thunderbolt software as Probook 430 G6 deosn't have a Thunderbold controller on the motherboard.

your PB 430 G6 uses the thunderbolt docking as a USB-C Docking.  Everything (USB, Display and LAN) should works even if you don't update the drivers.

Hey,

not a stupid question. Often problmes could be solved by easy things.

Unfortunately not here. I tried the power botten. No reaction of the docking station. The LED button is not on neither is it blinking. The only LED which is shining is that one on the backside of the docking station.

Thank you for the informations regards the thunderbolt software.

Hello

I've my own TB Dock G2 at home. If I remove the power from the back of it ,then reinsert it, for a few second the leds on docking goes on, then off.  Then if I press on the Power button , the computer power-on and all leds , on the top, stay on.

I says all leds because I have also the Audio Accessory on top of TB G2 dock, so I have even some 5 more icons.

The back side led on means you have power from external 120W power supply .

Bye

Hey,

if I´ll do the same nothing happens. The LED on the top will not shine once.  Could it be a hardware problem with the thunderbolt itself?

Bye

Honestly I don't know , I never saw what happens if it fails.

if you are using the 120W power supply , it looks like the TB G2 Dock is broken.

bye
