HP Thunderbolt Dock G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just got the HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G2. [1]

Also quite new is my Dell XPS 15 9570.

Now the Notebook keeps telling me (checked in BIOS), that the AC Adapter only delivers 65W.

According to the specification document for the HP Product, it is supposed to deliver up to 100W.

Yes i know, the XPS charger usually delivers 130W, so i will not reach the full "potential".

But i would at least like to reach the full power possible from the dock which it can provide.

So far i am still searching for available USB-C power profiles of the Dell Xps 15 9570. At least i found the ones for the G2 dock.

Please advise, thanks!

Hello @marcogruebler,

Unfortunately, you're asking about compatibility of devices between two different companies which neither company can really help with.

I did search for anything useful in the HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G2's product homepage to no avail.

My honest recommendation would be to go with a Dell branded Thunderbolt 3 dock such as this: https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-thunderbolt-dock-tb16-240w/apd/452-bcnu/pc-accessories

It doesn't specifically state the Dell XPS 15 9570 in the "compatibility" section but many XPS 15 customers seem to have had successes with the dock. It can also be noted that this dock is listed under the XPS 15's "recommended accessory section."

Hope this helps,

Eddy
