HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 230w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was trying to setup this device for one of my end users. The device would only show up as a base device. The video worked but nothing else. I tried multiple things and then I started a chat. I discovered two things about this device that I would like to share. First, the Intel Thunderbolt 3 Secure Connect for Titan Ridge NB driver under the Driver-Controller section of driver downloads is required first. Second, the following directions were necessary on the Z Book x360 G5 laptop in order for it to register correctly in device manager:

Please restart the unit >> keep tapping F10 >> In BIOS under advanced / port options / ensure thunderbolt security level is set for PCIe and display port-No security, Go to main Save changes and exit.In case No security option is not displayed then above thunderbolt security level options there would be an option called require bios PW to change TBT SL, Disable that then you will be able to see PCIe and display port-No security under thunderbolt security level. Enable the No Security option Go to main Save changes and exit.

Once I did this, I was able to run the dock's firmware update.

I hope this helps someone.

This solution worked for me on a EliteBook Folio 1040 G5 X360 too.  Thanks.
