HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 Power button issue on OMEN by HP 17-ck0000

Hello!

I have connected an HP thunderbolt dock G2 to my OMEN by HP 17-ck0000 laptop.

It works quite well except for the power button.

I have a triple monitor setup so I keep the laptop closed and use strictly my three monitors connected to the dock.

However, the power button of the dock does not put to sleep nor wake the computer from sleep.

What I did notice is that the power button on the dock does work if the lid is open.

When the lid is open, it will put the computer to sleep and wake it from sleep.

I did not notice any BIOS options for this, nor did changing the USB selective suspend to disabled make a difference

So the question is, how do I get the power button to work when the lid is closed??

There are few HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 docks, what is yours ? And what EXACTLY is your machine ?

What identifiers do you need

My model laptop is listed under "Product:" at the top of my post.

The laptop has a product ID of 374U5UA#ABL

The Thunderbolt dock I have has a product ID of 3TR87AA#ABA

Furthermore, my BIOS version is F.25

I have just upgraded the firmware on the dock to 1.0.71.1 and the behaviour is the same.

No action when pressing the power button on the dock if the laptop lid is closed.

If the lid is open, the power button on the dock works as expected.

Anyone have any insight into this?

There must be a setting somewhere that will allow the power button to function when the lid is closed.

It is a real pain in the butt to have to open the lid to have the power button function properly.

Has anyone had this problem and devised a solution.

I have exhausted BIOS settings, Windows settings, and nothing.

It is quite the pain in the butt to have to lift the lid whenever I want to wake the PC from sleep.

Also, because of this issue, using the keyboard and mouse does not wake the computer either.

If this works with the lid up, why would it not work with the lid down!?!?!?!?
