My HP TouchSmart 15-r015dx is running fine but I want a little more out of it. I'd like to know if and how the cpu can be upgraded to a faster i3 or better yet an i5?
I have heard conflicting information on the total ram for the 2 slots available. I've heard both 8 and 16gb would work. What's the real answer? And while I'm asking, can and how would I upgrade the hdd to a ssd? Thanks for your attention and information.

Hi:
The i3-4010U processor your notebook has is soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.
If you want to max out the memory, your notebook supports 2 x 8 GB of memory.

You can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.
This 500 model has the best performance for the price.
