I have the HP Laptop 15-dy5599nr (7N3T1UA) and i am getting an error message that my camera scene switch is failing. I have tried all the usual steps to repair. It says I need an updated driver, as listed above, but I cannot find a camera driver to update.

Please assist.

Hi @Ering123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop camera is showing a “scene switch failing” error and you’re unable to find the HP TrueVision HD Camera driver. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Check Camera Privacy Settings

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Make sure “Camera access” and “Let apps access your camera” are turned ON.

Scroll down and turn ON camera access for the specific app you are using (Teams, Zoom, Camera app, etc.).

b. Check Camera in Device Manager

Press Windows + X > Device Manager.

Expand Cameras, Imaging Devices, or Sound, Video and Game Controllers.

If you see HP TrueVision HD, USB Camera, or any device with a yellow warning icon or “Unknown Device,” that indicates a driver issue.

c. Reinstall the Camera Driver Manually

In Device Manager, right-click the camera device.

Click Uninstall device → check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available.

Restart your laptop.

Windows will automatically reinstall the default Microsoft camera driver.

d. Run Windows Update & Optional Driver Updates

Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.

Click on Advanced Options > Optional Updates and install any driver or firmware updates available.

Restart your laptop after installing.

e. Install HP Drivers from Support Page

Visit support.hp.com, enter your model: HP Laptop 15-dy5599nr (7N3T1UA).

Download and install the latest BIOS, Chipset, and Intel/UVC driver if listed.

These include camera interface control and can resolve detection errors.

I hope this helps.

My camera still does not work. It will turn on after a FEW HOURS of having the camera app open and the "Switch" continually trying to turn on. Any ideas?
