HP ENVY Notebook - m6-p113dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I kept getting a prompt that 'Youcam 6 has stopped working'. So after following all the directions of uninstalling and reinstalling, I found that the problem isn't the Youcam software, but instead the actual hardware.

When opening the properties for the HP Truevision HD, it displayed device error code 45. I looked online for HP forums related to this issue, and it gave me pretty much the same solution that correcting the Youcam software did - uninstall, scan for new hardware, it should automatically reinstall the hardware and subsequent drivers.

My HP Truevision HD was under the heading of 'Camera' in the device manager, and was the only item in that drop down menu. So naturally, after uninstalling it, that heading disappeared. The instructions said that after scanning for new hardware it would come back. SO HERE'S THE ISSUE. It's gone. Vanished. I can't find it anywhere, not in imaging devices, or in the drop down that Youcam is found. The 'Camera' menu is no more.

Please, please help. I've never been able to get this laptop's camera to work, even fresh out of the box. I didn't worry about it because I never used it, but have a job opportunity that will require it. Thanks in advance!!

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊
