New HP USB-C Dock G5-8 in 1 connected to new HP Envy 17t-DA000 laptop via Thunderbolt port. All peripherals (external video, usb) working ok with Dock. Unable to power on laptop with the Dock power button. I understand this to be a feature that should be available.

I ultimately returned the HP USB-C dock (purchased through Amazon) and ordered one directly from HP.
the new dock purchased from HP functions as expected, allowing me to power on my laptop from the Dock power button.

I tried with the dock connected to different usb-c ports on my Envy 17t-DA000 (Thunderbolt and non-Thunderbolt). I notice in each case, the Dock's power button indicator illuminates upon connection to my laptop regardless of my laptop being powered on or off and seems to have no other affect when pushed.
