OmniBook X Flip 16

I am looking for some part numbers to use for sourcing a 90W or larger USB-C power supply to run with a non-HP Docking station of some sort (TBD) with a HP 16z-ar000 (OmniBook X Flip 16) .

The PC comes with a 65W, but I also wish to be able to run some external 2.5" HDDs.  The 65W will go in the bag, the larger will stay fixed.

The part numbers I have found are:

90W PS - PN: L45440-003, Spare: 904144-850,  Reg Model: TPN-DA08

100W PS - PN: N56858-001, Spare: N57045-001, Reg Model: TPN-LA31

110W PS - PN: M52946-001, Spare: M58479-001, Reg Model: TPN-DA24

NOTE: this is actual 100W with an additional 10W for the 5V onboard USB-A port

I have not found a 120\130 watt devices.

I am unclear if the newer PCs will run with any USB-C power supply or if I need an HP proprietary device, like the older barrel conductors did. There are a number of alternative brand devices with more ports and connections which would be more functional than a "brick".

Community thoughts and experiences appreciated.  Feel free to suggest a dock too!

Thank you,

Hi @RangerZ

In reality, you can use any 65-watt USB-C charger from any brand you want. Using an external hard drive consumes an average of 4 watts.

@resistencia, this is what I would like to think true (or at least will be).  I have read elsewhere this is not quite true, something to due with versions of a chip in the cable which, like BlueTooth defines the devices capabilities, and I have had a number of issues with USB-C cables for data.

For the price of a charger, I am going to get an HP one, at least 90 watts.  I already have a HP G5 Dock that does not work with this PC.

Thank you for your response.

It's very strange that the HP G5 doesn't work; it has all the features it needs to function.

Power to system
Up to 100W via USB-C®.
Up to 75W on non HP machines.
Separate AC power needed for HP ZBooks that require more than 100W power delivered via USB-C alt mode.

@resistencia

Marketing guys are a bunch of..

So the HP marketing spec page I linked above has the word Thunderbolt 1 time on the page, that said I got there using info from the BestBuy web page we bought the unit from.  Buried in those specs it says USB 4.  Wikipedia, in the DP Alt Mode DPF Features section, it says"The USB4 specifications make no reference to a minimum feature set for its DP Alternative Mode functionality".  Not clear if the BB site has changed, but these are not the same part numbers TODAY.  BB has 16-ar0013dx which is not found on the HP marketing site, close but NO thunderbolt

The user manual apparently indicates that there are 2 versions of this PC.  See page 5, Left side.  We apparently do NOT have the Thunderbolt product, but the 40Gbps version (USB-4).  Seems like the description for this port, top of page 7 is "less compatible" and does not include the words "may support a docking station".

I have another post here related to the PC and Docks compatibility, (this thread was really looking for chargers) and also another post here, in which it's noted that there are issues with ARM Processors and the DOCK 5

Can you please provide a link to the info you cited above.

I am also looking for a link to a document that says what will work with this PC, but ATM I think it's going to need 2 cables.  On in the 40Gbps for charging, and another in one of the 10Gbps ports for a powered USB hub.  This is EXACTLY what we were trying to avoid.

Late breaking.  Apparently there is a support site for this 16-ar0013dx, but at least the manual is the same file.

Thank you

The service manual indicates that it requires 65 watts, and the G5 dock provides this.

Lets see if we can bring this back to my original request.

I am looking for part numbers for an HP OEM Power Supply that is between 120-180 watts output.

I realize that this is not needed for my computer, but would rather have a larger device for future device compatibility .

NOTE: I have updated the first post with part numbers for a 110Watt PS, but in reality it's a 100W PS with an additional 10 w @5V for the onboard USB-A port.

I don't understand why you want to do that, but you can if you have the option to buy the HP Thunderbolt Dock 230 W, G2 2UK38AA.
