I have only just received it three hours from writing this and it will not show on my PC. In the device manager it has a yellow triangle and is saying that the driver is either corrupted or not installed however I cannot find one online to help me. It shows up as hp CDDVDW GP70N USB Device.

Hi @lu-mar,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the driver for your HP USB External DVDRW drive (HP CDDVDW GP70N) might be missing or corrupted. Here are the steps to resolve this issue:
Steps to Fix the Issue:
Uninstall the Driver in Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Find the DVD/CD-ROM drives section, expand it, and locate your device (it should show with a yellow triangle).
- Right-click on the hp CDDVDW GP70N USB Device and choose Uninstall Device.
- Confirm the uninstallation and then unplug the drive from your PC.
Restart Your PC:
- After uninstalling the driver, restart your computer.
Reconnect the Drive:
- Once the computer has restarted, reconnect your HP USB External DVDRW drive to a different USB port on your PC.
- Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver automatically. Wait for a few moments to see if the yellow triangle disappears in Device Manager.
Run Windows Update:
- Open Settings > Windows Update, and click Check for updates. If Windows detects any missing drivers, it may install them automatically.
Install the Driver from the HP Website:
- If the automatic steps don't work, you can try downloading and installing the driver manually:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter your product's serial number or model (search for "HP USB External DVDRW drive GP70N").
- Download any available drivers or firmware for the device.
Check for Missing or Corrupted Files:
- Open a Command Prompt as Administrator (search for "cmd", right-click and select Run as administrator).
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will check for and attempt to repair any corrupted system files.
To assist better:
- May I have the exact name of the model of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
