Hi there, I have a:

Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0xxx (fa00058ne(?))

processor - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12450H 2.00 GHz

RAM - 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)

Product ID - 00342-20979-30075-AAOEM

Using for gaming, the 512 GB burns up quickly. I cannot seem to find a definitive answer, are there 2 SSD slots, or 1? If there 2, can I replace them both with a SAMSUNG SSD 990 PRO 2TB, PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280? Or can I only add 1?

Also, I am unsure where/how to find the EXACT ram installed, however I seen this laptop can handle 64GB installed. Once I figure out how to do that, am I able to add 2 NEW Crucial - RAM 32GB kit DDR4
3200MHz CL22 (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) ?

Thanks in advance. These items are rather expensive, so I was hoping for a definitive answer before I pull the trigger. thanks in advance

Hi:

Your notebook only has one M.2 slot for a NVMe SSD.

You would have to replace the existing 512 GB SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.

Below is the link to the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

You can see an illustration of the location of the M.2 SSD in chapter 5, page 33 of the manual.

The NVMe SSD slot is PCIe Gen 4.0, so the Samsung 990 Pro should run at or near its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

HP only offered SSD's up to 1 TB in the model series, but I don't know of any reason why a 2 TB drive wouldn't work.

The Crucial memory/SSD report for the model series indicates that they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB.

I have zipped up and attached a free program that should tell you everything you need to know about the memory HP installed in your notebook.

Buy memory that has the same characteristics as what HP installed such as the speed (DDR4-3200), number of ranks (1Rx8, 2Rx8, etc), CL speed (probably 22).
