HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa0666TX – Hinge Failure (Out of Warranty, Common Issue)

I own an HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa0666TX and am currently facing a hinge failure, which appears to be a manufacturing or design-related issue. After reviewing the HP Community, I noticed that many HP Victus users are reporting similar hinge problems, raising concerns about the durability of this model.

The laptop has been used under normal conditions, with no accidental or physical damage. I visited an authorized HP service centre, where the device was inspected and the technicians confirmed that the hinge needs to be replaced. The system is currently with the service centre for further service.

At present, there is no display or display-cable issue, but I am concerned that leaving the hinge issue unresolved could eventually lead to display damage and significantly higher repair costs.

Although the laptop is now out of warranty, since this hinge issue appears to be a common problem affecting multiple HP Victus users, I would like to know:

Has HP officially acknowledged this hinge issue in HP Victus models?

Have users received goodwill repairs or support after warranty expiry?

What is the recommended process to get this issue resolved through HP support?

I would appreciate any guidance or assistance from HP or fellow users, preferably toward a goodwill or free repair, considering the nature of this issue.

Thank you, and I look forward to your response.

Hi @Arsu_01,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed explanation of your situation. I truly understand how concerning and frustrating it can be to experience a hinge issue, especially when the device has been used carefully, and the problem appears to be reported by other users as well.

About the hinge concern on HP Victus laptops

HP continuously monitors product feedback and community reports to improve future designs. While we do see individual reports related to hinges across many laptop brands and models, HP has not issued an official service advisory or recall specifically acknowledging a manufacturing defect for HP Victus hinges.

That said, hinge assemblies are considered mechanical parts, and over time, they can be affected by normal wear, usage patterns, and environmental factors.

Warranty and goodwill support

  • Within warranty: Hinge-related repairs are fully covered if no customer-induced damage is found.
  • Out of warranty: Repairs, including hinge replacement, are typically chargeable, as the standard warranty coverage has expired.

In some regions and select cases, goodwill support may be reviewed, but this is not guaranteed and depends on factors such as:

  • Service inspection findings
  • Age of the device
  • Service history
  • Regional HP support policies

The final decision rests with HP’s regional service team after physical evaluation of the device.

Recommended next steps

Since your laptop is already with an authorized HP service center, you are on the correct path. We recommend:

  1. Allowing the service center to complete its full assessment.
