Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The computer was on and connected to the power supply and then it just turned itself off. It had no problems before and showed no warnings but now it does not start anymore. Pressing the power button gives no reaction. Also there is no LED light on anywhere and no sound hearable.

The Laptop is 15 months old and all parts like in the beginning.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi @Victus1977 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your Victus by HP Gaming Laptop is experiencing a power or hardware issue, especially given that there's no response at all when you press the power button and no LED indicators are visible.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Power Reset

  • Remove the power adapter and any connected devices (USBs, external drives, etc.).
  • If possible, remove the battery (some HP models have non-removable batteries).
  • Press and hold the power button for 30-60 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery if it's removable) and try turning on the laptop again.

2. Check the Power Adapter and Charging Port

  • Ensure that the power adapter is working correctly. Try using a different power outlet or, if possible, a different compatible charger.
  • Inspect the charging port for any debris or damage.

3. Perform a BIOS Reset (for Non-Removable Battery)

If your model has a non-removable battery, you can try a BIOS reset:

  • Press the Windows Key + V or Windows Key + B while holding the Power Button for about 10-20 seconds. This can sometimes force the system to start and reset the BIOS.

4. Check for Signs of Life (Caps Lock Light or Fan Noise)

  • When you press the power button, check if there’s any flickering of the Caps Lock light or if you can hear fan noise. These signs can indicate if power is reaching the motherboard.
  • If there’s still no response, it may indicate an internal hardware issue, possibly the motherboard, battery, or power circuitry.

5. Inspect for Physical Damage

  • Check for any visible damage to the laptop, including around the power port. A faulty power jack or damaged port could prevent the laptop from charging.

6. Check the AC Adapter LED

  • If your power adapter has a light (usually at the connection point), check if the LED is on when plugged in. If it’s not, the adapter itself could be faulty, and you may need to test with a replacement adapter.

7. Try an External Display (Optional)

  • If you suspect the issue might be the display, connect your laptop to an external monitor using HDMI or another cable to check if the display is the issue. However, given that there are no signs of power, this might not work until the power issue is resolved.
