Merhaba,

Hello,

I own an HP Victus 16 laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor, which has been in use for approximately one year. During the initial period of use, the device was operating at around 66°C in the same games. Over time, due to lack of maintenance and dust accumulation, CPU temperatures increased to around 90°C, so the device was sent to an authorized service center under warranty for maintenance.

After the maintenance performed by the authorized service center, temperatures returned to normal, and the device began operating cool again. However, only 1–2 days after the maintenance, despite no change in usage, CPU temperatures suddenly increased again, while GPU temperatures remained within normal ranges.

For this reason, the device was sent to the service center again under warranty. During this second service process, I was informed that the fans were replaced. However, despite the fan replacement, the issue was not resolved, CPU temperatures continued to rise, and the problem progressively worsened over time.

Critical Technical Analysis

During gaming and stress testing, according to HWiNFO sensor data:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS

  • CPU usage: approximately 25–30%

  • CPU package power: only 30–35 W

  • CPU temperature: 95–100°C

  • Thermal limit: constantly reaching 100%, with continuous thermal throttling observed

During the same tests, GPU temperatures remain within normal ranges (approximately 75–77°C).

Reaching 95–100°C at only 30–35 W power consumption is not normal behavior for this processor.

I would appreciate it if you could assist me and advise on how to proceed further.

Hi @taa65,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about the overheating issue with your HP Victus 16. Here are some steps you can try to potentially resolve or mitigate the issue:

Tips for Reducing Temperature and Improving Performance

Ensure Proper Airflow:

  • Place the laptop on a hard, flat surface to avoid blocking the fan air inlet.
  • Avoid placing it on soft surfaces like beds or carpets that can obstruct airflow.

Regular Cleaning:

  • Dust accumulation can significantly affect cooling efficiency. Periodically clean the fan and vents using compressed air to remove dust.

Adjust Performance Settings:

  • Use the OMEN Gaming Hub to switch to a lower performance mode or a comfort mode, which can reduce CPU and GPU usage, thereby reducing heat output.
  • Consider using the Performance Control settings to manage fan speeds and prioritize cooling.

Ambient Temperature:

  • Ensure the environment is cool. Lower ambient temperatures can help reduce internal temperatures.

Software Management:

  • Close unnecessary applications running in the background.
  • Monitor resource-intensive processes through task managers to identify if any software is causing an excessive load on the CPU.

Check for BIOS and Driver Updates:

  • Visit the Official HP® Support to check if there are any available updates for the BIOS or drivers that might address thermal management improvements.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
