I recently bought this gaming Laptop, and the seller told me that there was a 2nd M.2 SSD slot, but after watching it by myself and this other post i realized it was a lie. But i really like this laptop and the components in it, so i would like to keep it and change the SSD from the actual 512go to a 2To NVME M.2 SSD. Is it possible or there is a limit on the maximum size i can install (like maximum 1To) ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi:
You should be OK with that.
Below is the link to the service manual.
Chapter 1 has the list of NVMe drive capacities HP offered in the model series.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
HP offered drives up to 1 TB in the model series, but I don't see any reason why a 2 TB NVMe SSD wouldn't work just as well.
The Crucial memory/SSD report for the model series indicates that they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB for the model series.
HP - Compaq HP Victus 16-s0000 | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com
PS: Don't be too hard on the guy that sold you the notebook.
Chapter 5, page 32 of the manual indicates the model was supposed to come with support for two M.2 NVMe SSD's.
So, if the seller just referred to the service manual, he would have no way of knowing that this was not correct.
The service teardown video exposes the error in the manual.

Thank you for your quick response.
I bought a 2To SSD according to the specifications of the computer (PCIe 4, M.2) and I will do the replacement on the pc as soon as I get it, and come back on this page to post if yes or no it actually worked, even if I think it will as you say.
I will do my research about moving the OS and drivers too, and inform the seller for future clients.
Thank you.

You're very welcome.
Looking forward to reading about the results of your SSD upgrade project.
Since you haven't gotten the notebook yet and haven't personalized it by adding files and programs, you may want to use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook on the new 2 TB NVMe SSD you installed.
You can do an initial setup of the notebook and then use the cloud recovery tool right away before you take it apart to install the drive.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media on.
You can download the tool from the Microsoft Store.

Hello again,
I recently performed the replacement like we discussed and there was no problem (for now, but I don't think there will be any).
The HP Cloud Recovery tool didn't work on this model so I could'nt use it, and I no longer have access to the HP TOOLS partition, but this is not a problem.
The new 2To SSD NVME PCI-4 M.2 is totally fine in the computer, no problem of compatibility or installation (I followed the procedure in the maintenance youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5GVVA79_1g), and after re-installing Windows and my drivers, everything works fine.
Thanks again for your help, I will now close this topic.
