Issue: My Victus is only recognizing the Intel UHD graphics. The GTX 1650 has completely disappeared.

What I’ve already tried:

  • Checked Device Manager: GTX 1650 is missing (even under "Hidden Devices"). There is a grayed-out "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" instead.

  • Attempted manual driver install: NVIDIA installer says "No compatible hardware found."

  • BIOS: There is no "Graphics Switcher" or "Discrete" option available in my BIOS version.

  • Power: Performed a 60-second "Hard Reset" (holding power button while unplugged).

  • HP Diagnostics (F2): Ran the component test; the NVIDIA GPU is not listed/detected there either.

System Specs:

  • Model: Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0xxx

  • OS: Windows 11

Is my GPU physically dead, or is there a specific BIOS/Firmware version that fixes this "invisible GPU" bug for the Victus?

Hi @ifaiq

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for laying out the details so clearly. Since the GTX 1650 is not appearing in BIOS, Device Manager, or HP Diagnostics, the goal is to confirm whether the system firmware and drivers are correctly aligned, and whether the GPU is being blocked at a hardware initialization level. Here are the precise steps you can follow:

Update BIOS and Firmware

  • Go to the HP App on your system and check for updates.
  • Ensure the BIOS is updated to the latest version available for your Victus 15-fa0xxx model.
  • After updating, restart the system and recheck Device Manager.

Reset BIOS Settings

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Turn it back on and immediately press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Inside BIOS, load Default Settings (usually under Exit → Load Setup Defaults).
  • Save and exit, then boot back into Windows.

Clean NVIDIA Driver Installation

  • In Windows, open Device Manager and uninstall any grayed-out display adapters.
  • Restart the system.
  • Download the latest NVIDIA drivers directly from NVIDIA’s website for GTX 1650 (Windows 11, 64-bit).
  • Run the installer and select Custom Installation → Clean Install.

Check Windows Updates

  • Open Settings → Windows Update.
  • Install all pending updates, including optional driver updates.
  • Restart and verify if the GPU appears.

Verify in HP App Diagnostics

  • Open the HP App.
  • Run a full hardware scan.
  • Confirm if the NVIDIA GPU is detected after BIOS and driver updates.

Power Reset Once More

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Hold the power button for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect and power on.

If after these steps the GTX 1650 still does not appear in BIOS or diagnostics, it strongly suggests the GPU is not initializing at the hardware level. At that point, the system will continue to rely only on Intel UHD graphics.
