I have an HP Victus, version 23H2, and whenever I open the camera app, it only shows a gray screen, but my camera lights up indicating that it's working.

When I open other apps that use camera, it works for a moment but then freezes and then turns off after.

Things I have done to fix this:

Uninstalled and re-installed my camera drivers.

Updated my camera drivers.

Troubleshoot camera in settings.

Restarted my laptop.

Checked device permissions.

None of them worked, any help would be greatly appreciated

It is always a fantastic idea for context to identify a laptop beyond your pet name for it.

HP uses product names and product numbers to absolutely identify the hardware configuration of their laptops.

Without that information, I was unable to point out a specific driver for your to try.

In the search box, type in msinfo and click on the System Information icon that appears above.

The ninth line in the list that appears will be the system SKY. The System SKU happens to be the same as the product number, which we need.

Help us to help you!

Once you have that,  it would help if you posted it in your next reply to your thread.

Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI  component test to test the hardware aspect of the camera.

If ithe result is a pass, then the issue is with either a driver or perhaps a bug in Windows 11 23H2

You can find the latest WHQL drivers at the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Find the brand name of the camera in your Victus and download and try the driver.
