Hello HP Support,

I’m reporting a recurring hinge problem on my HP Victus laptop. During the warranty period, the hinge issue was “repaired” by applying coconut hair oil. I believe this non-technical method has led to ongoing hinge problems and could cause further damage over time.

Key points:

  • Device: HP Victus

  • Action taken during warranty: Hinge “repair” using coconut hair oil

  • Current situation: Hinge problem has returned and stability feels compromised

  • Concern: The use of hair oil as a repair approach may have contributed to the current issue and is not a proper technical remedy

Requested resolution:

  • Conduct a thorough diagnosis of the hinge assembly and surrounding components (brackets, screws, mounts, palm-rest anchors, display side mounts).

  • Perform a proper, documented repair using genuine HP parts (no adhesives or lubricants as a substitute for mechanical fixes).

  • Provide an official job sheet/invoice and a written repair warranty for the work performed.

  • Share preventive guidance to avoid recurrence (correct opening angle, handling tips, any known service advisories for Victus hinges).

@Monudhakad, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your concern regarding the hinge issue on your HP Victus laptop.

We want to clarify that HP does not recommend using coconut hair oil, or any other non-technical methods, for addressing hinge issues. This approach is not a recognized or proper solution for the problem you are experiencing, and it may indeed have contributed to the ongoing instability you're now facing.

For your situation, we recommend that you visit your nearest HP Authorized Service Center for a thorough inspection and proper repair. Our technicians will conduct a full diagnostic of the hinge assembly and surrounding components, ensuring that any mechanical issues are properly addressed using genuine HP parts.
