Hello there, recently, my laptop decided to cause me trouble; it only charges when powered off, I tried different outlet, different charger, but in did not help, I found some solutions online and have tried them all: holding power button for 15 seconds, upgrading & downgrading bios, uninstalling devices in device manager etc. I also tried disconnecting the battery, the laptop booted, but it was in some sort of a quiet mode, like it was running on battery, but it was plugged intro the wall and so the fans were not spinning as fast as they should so the laptop started overheating after doing some demanding tasks like gaming or running LLMs. I used my multimeter to measure voltage on the battery and on the charger and it all seemed fine. Some guy on discord suggested me that there might be an issue with DC-IN Mosfets, but I could not even locate it on the board. My friend also had a Victus laptop and had an even worse issue, his laptop would not even charge, so he ended up switching it for a different laptop. I'm looking forward to your reply with possible solution to my issue.
Best regards,
Vít Bojanovský.

Hi @Vit_Bojanovsky,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Battery Health Check:
- Use HP Battery Check, a tool available in HP Support Assistant. It can help diagnose battery-related issues and provide guidance for addressing them.
Check Power Connector:
- Inspect the charging port for any visible damage or debris, which can hinder proper contact between the charger and the laptop.
Update Power Management Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Select "Change plan settings" for your active power plan and then "Change advanced power settings."
- Look for "Battery" and "Power Management" sections and ensure settings are optimized for charging.
Check for Windows Power Options Problems:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type powercfg /energy. This command generates a file that lists power-related issues. Review this file for anything unusual that might cause charging issues.
BIOS Settings Review:
- Make sure the BIOS settings are correctly configured concerning power and hardware settings. Reset to default settings if necessary.
I hope this helps.
