I am writing to express my extreme disappointment regarding the performance and reliability of my HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15. I purchased this device approximately one year ago (April 2025), expecting a durable machine capable of handling both my engineering simulations and daily tasks.

Model: HP Victus 15

Processor: Intel Core i5 13th Gen

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (6GB GDDR6)

Memory: 16GB DDR4

Purchase Date: April 2025

Warranty expire Date:  April 11, 2026

Retailer: Micro Center Indianapolis

The laptop functioned normally until approximately two months ago (February 2026), when it began experiencing random, sudden shutdowns. This progressed rapidly until the device became completely non-functional. Currently, when the power button is pressed, the LED indicator lights up for only two seconds before shutting off. The cooling fans do not engage, and the system fails to initiate the Power-On Self-Test (POST).

I have consulted three independent professional repair technicians. Each diagnostic has independently confirmed a board-level defect. Specifically, sections of the motherboard are failing to receive or regulate voltage correctly. This is not a result of user damage or wear and tear, but an internal component failure on the motherboard itself.

While I understand the standard one-year warranty may have recently elapsed, it is unacceptable for a high-performance laptop to suffer a total hardware collapse within 12–14 months of use. After researching this specific model online, I have found numerous reports from other users experiencing identical power-rail failures on the Victus 15 series. This suggests a widespread manufacturing defect rather than an isolated incident.

I took the product back to the retailer in which it was purchased and was told that it could be repaired.
Parts: $1889.99

Labor: $149.99

Which is now more than double the price of which I purchased.

I am requesting that HP stands by its product reputation and provides a repair or replacement solution at no cost, as this failure clearly reflects a lack of product durability and an inherent hardware flaw.

I look forward to your prompt response regarding how you intend to rectify this situation.

Hi @Kyle1023,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the HP Victus 15. We truly regret the frustration and inconvenience this situation has caused. A sudden hardware failure after such a short period of use is not the experience we want for our customers.

Here are steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Power and Battery Check:

  • Ensure that the laptop is fully charged or connected to a power source.

  • Try using a different power outlet or adapter to rule out any power issues.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if it's removable.

  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to reset the power circuits.

  • Re-insert the battery and plug the device back into power. Try turning it on again.

Check for Indicator Lights:

  • Look for any LED lights when you press the power button. This could indicate if the laptop is receiving power.

External Display Test:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue might be with the display rather than the computer itself.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
