Good evening,
I'm the owner of this indestructible and beloved machine for almost 6 years.
For this reason, since the past few months, I'm a little worried for the high temperatures the PCH has when the computer is used for browsing (60-65°C, while the cpu and gpu both sit to 40-50°C). While used for gaming it reached also 75+...
I checked the motherboard with a thermal camera and I saw few spots close to the cpu below a plastic cover with a really high temperature compared to the rest of the components. I took also the same picture while the laptop was turned off so the spots are more visible:
Temperature while browsing
Temperature after turned off
In the following image I show the area which I'm pointing at:
Is it a normal behaviour or is it a symptom of death?
I kindly ask help so I can identify those components (which I think are either voltage regulators or inductances by the shape they have) without starting to dismount anything and in case get prepared to replace them.
Or even better if someone has any suggestion... maybe it was a bios update bringing up this issue?
