Hi,

I have a ZBook Studio G8 laptop with an i7-11850H processor and an RTX 3070 GPU.

When gaming, the CPU (Turbo mode up to 5000 Mhz) temperatures easily reach 100°C, while the GPU temperatures stay between 70°C and 80°C...

I've noticed that if I disable Turbo mode on the CPU, the temperatures are more stable and stay around 80°C

I've also experimented with different clock speeds and found that 2900 MHz seems to be the ideal setting for gaming, as the temperatures (seem to) only rise to about 85°C.

So disabling Turbo in the BIOS keeps the temperatures manageable, preventing thermal throttling.

However, this causes the CPU to bottleneck the GPU, as the base clock(2500 Mhz) doesn’t provide enough performance.

So, I need to increase the CPU frequency to a level that balances performance without causing excessive heat. It seems that 2900 MHz is the sweet spot, where temperatures remain reasonable. But still games are laggy or bugging out because not enough CPU performance.

Are these laptops really built this poorly? Is the cooling system just not sufficient for gaming?

I thought that Zbook notebooks are flagship models...
