Dear All,
I have found myself in a situation where two different specialists are advising me conflicting things about a possible memory upgrade to my HP Zbook Fury 15.6 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC. I hope I can get some guidance here. These were my steps so far:
1) I have been told that there are two extra slots for memory modules in the laptop and therefore the installed RAM can be increased.
2) An IT salesperson sold me two of: CoreParts W126995549 32GB Memory Module for HP 2666Mhz DDR4 Major SO-DIMM.
3) Then I went to a local computer service shop to install those additional modules in my laptop and the technician tried to put them in and said that they do not work and that they need to have the frequency of 3200Mhz like the memory already in the laptop.
4) When I got back to the IT salesguy he said:
'The computer is produced with 2x 8GB or 16GB 3200mhz modules, and when you upgrade memory it uses 32GB or 64GB 2666mhz modules. So they should be compatible according to hp and the computer might need a BIOS upgrade'
5) The technician however disagrees and says we need other memory modules with 3200Mhz frequency. He didn't do the BIOS upgrade.
So I decided to seek advice here. Should I find another technician and proceed with the BIOS upgrade? I have never done it before and I heard there can be some difficulties so I would like a professional to do it but only if it's actually necessary and the memory modules that I purchased should actually work.
Thank you in advance for any help with this.
Kind regards
Katarzyna

Hi, Katarzyna:
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates all memory configurations use DDR4-3200 MHz memory.
Chapter 3 of the service manual does not list any part numbers for DDR4-2666 MHz memory.
Chapter 5 which has the memory removal and replacement procedures for all four memory modules, indicate that they are DDR4-3200 MHz.
