No a backlit keyboard is not an option on that series. Even if it were, the cost of buying and retrofitting a backlit keyboard would be close to the price of a new Chromebook.

Hello Huffer ... read  your response regarding backlight keyboard ... I think you hit the nail on the head there.   But, it lead me to thinking another way ... are you are aware of any *external* keyboards that are designed for use w/ a chromebook ... in that they replicate the same "special" keys on the built in keyboard, but just are outside.

I'm looking for this because I use an external monitor (screen on the CB is too small for my decades old eyes), and while the monitor works great, I have to keep the cover closed ... if I keep it open (so that I could use the internal keyboard) it is very distracting, if I close it then it's just a nuisance to have to open it then close it if I want to use a special function..  I know there are at least a couple of ways to get around this, but still it'd be great if there were a designed-for-chromebook external keyboard.

Thanks

Another question, not specifically keyboard related ... does a CB support the old PC function of ctl-alt-del to force a restart?  Or is there a CB key combo that'll do it instead?

My usual setup is that I  have 2 external hubs  ...  one plugs into the USB-C port on the right hand side of the machine and I use it primarily to give me an both an SD port - so I can take the SD out of my camera and use it on the CB, and then secondarily it gives me back the built in usb-C port that I lose by using the hub in the first place.   It also supports power-pass through (not sure if that's the correct term) .   The only thing this hub is missing, and that I need, is an HDMI port that I can plug my monitor into.

The other external USB hub gives me that HDMI port for the monitor, and that's my primary reason for using this hub in the first place.   If the CB had its own HDMI port, I wouldn't need this 2nd hub at all.  (That's not a complaint, just an explanation).   Since I do use the hub, I also keep a 2.4G SD card in it, and my wireless mouse talks to the CB via that port.

Does that make any sense?  It's all working, just the KB is still an acceptable I can live with it option, so I'd love one that's really meant to work with the CB

Thanks

Sorry, forgot this piece.   The CB is an "HP Chromebook X360".  I don't know if there is another descriptor that'll narrow it down further.

This one says it is designed specifically for Chrome OS:

And shift + esc = ctrl alt del for Chrome
