Hello guys,
I am looking forward to updating my notebook hard drive. Since the option is still in my budget, I am considering an SDD, specifically the Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III (Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76E1T0B-AM/dp/B078DPCY3T) Will it work with my laptop?. I will substitute the primary HDD, and the final configuration will be: 1st SSD, 2nd HDD.
Moreover, I also want to install the OS and try Windows 10. Does anyone has done that with this model?. Should I also upgrade the WiFi card?. I looked for this model: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0, but I am not sure about compatibility.
Finally, can anyone help me to find the battery for this laptop?. I think the performance is above average and not planning to replace it for the next 2 years; however, I am open to suggestions with a new model.
Thank you in advance.
Jorge

Hi:
The Samsung drive you selected should work.
I also recommend this model which has slightly better performance, the same 5 year warranty and costs less.
Yes, the Intel 7260 AC wifi card should work just fine.
I would get this particular part number if you can...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you source a battery.
Get the part number off it and search by the part number, or search by the part number listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.

Thank you very much, Paul. I will buy the items and share a picture of the final setup and running Windows 10. As far as I could read in the forum, all components and drivers should work correctly after Windows 10 update.
Just to double-check, will I notice some performance in the WiFi connectivity using this new card (7260 AC)?. I am asking because, due to the pandemic, the shipping is around USD 50.
Yes, it is tricky to find the battery replacement. I have to say that everything is working smoothly after almost 7 years, except for the battery.

You're very welcome.
Yes, the card should give you much better performance if you have a dual band AC router.
Did you look into getting the card from an eBay seller located in China?
I see the first guy ships to Chile. To ship to the USA, it only costs $1.
It'll take a few weeks but to me it would be worth it if you are in no hurry.
