- lapotop on boot up showed that smart check detected an imminent failure in hard disk please back up data so did a long DST on hard drive and it wouldn't go through after 10% of doing a long DST on hard disk it gave me a error code
Code is - UCVVU2-8MK9MQ-XD7UQJ-618NO3
AFTER A few rebootss laptop works fine now but it takes about 20-30 minutes to just boot
So is this a hard disk failure and I need to replace it ???

If you have gotten any data you needed from the drive, you were fortunate.
You probably can't fix it. You can run the checkdisk command to see if you can repair any bad sectors, but most likely the drive is going to quit working altogether in a very short while.

You did get a lifetime Windows license with your notebook.
The product key is hidden in the BIOS, and you don't need it to reinstall W10.
Just follow the instructions I posted above regarding the HP cloud recovery software to reinstall W10.

Hi:
The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 Full Test Failure, does mean that the hard drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.
You may want to consider replacing the failed mechanical hard drive with a better performing, normally more reliable solid state drive (SSD).
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. The HDD R & R procedure can be found in chapter 6.

After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W10 by using the HP cloud recovery client utlity.
Below is the info link for how to create the W10 installation media.
