My battery recently died (or so I thought) so I purchased a new replacement battery.
The LED next to the power jack comes on as yellow to indicate it is charging. When I leave the laptop on charge over night, the next day the charging indicator LED flashes white every second and the laptop won't boot. But taking the battery out and removing the AC power, then re-inserting the battery and applying the AC power the laptop then boots up.
Within windows the battery shows plugged in and charging, but it stays at 0% all the time.
What I've tried already:
- I've ran HP hardware diagnostics UEFI which shows Blown Fuse (42) on both batteries
- I've updated the BIOS to the latest one available from HP - F.46 Rev.A
- I've deleted and re-installed the ACPI drivers from within windows
- I ran Windows 10 updates and made sure everything was up to date
- I replaced the Charging port and tried a different charger
- With having the charger connected and the battery out, I get 2.96V between the positive and negative pins where the battery connects
- With just the battery connected to the laptop, the battery is at 14.63V
- With having the battery and charger connected, the voltage goes up to 14.66V

I've read through every other support ticket on HP and other sites and I've tried everything that was suggested there
I tested both batteries with a multi meter and both show 14.63V available (which shows they are being charged)
The last option I can think of is that the batteries are not the correct make and model
The original one I took out has the part number: 756743-001 and I replaced it with the same one.
I tried to google but can't definitely see that it's the correct one. For part number 756743-001 it shows it fits HP Pavilion 15. And googling for the Beats specific one, it looks exactly the same but perhaps the chip inside sees it as the incorrect battery (I can't be sure)

Hope there is someone that could help me

It would seem that the battery that is producing the error message needs to be replaced. Contact the vendor and request an RMA. The replacement should not cost you anything if it is within the battery warranty time frame.

I hope that you did purchase a battery from a vendor who delivered a one year warranty.

That is a hard requirement when I look for replacement battery sources.

Hey Erico

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm not sure if you could help, but I'm looking for the correct battery product code that I should get. The new battery I bought does come with a warranty, but before I return it I just want to make sure that the replacement I get is in fact the correct one

The battery that was originally in the notebook is the correct one.

It was installed by HP. That should tell you something.

If it has the same part number as the  what you currently have  installed and it is not working return it under the warranty.

I can't say I quite understand why you wouldn't.

The

HP Beats Special Edition 15-p099na Notebook PC is actually just an HP Pavilion 15 notebook.

Hey Erico

Thank you for the response. The above quoted text helps a lot! I've returned the battery today for a new one. I'll update here once I receive it and if my problem is solved
