Hi @kcmohr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your built-in webcam is not working and not listed in the device manager after a Windows 10 to 11 update, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy.
  • Under Camera, make sure the "Allow apps to access your camera" toggle is turned on.
  • Scroll down and make sure the specific apps you want to use the camera with have access.

Update Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (you mentioned it's not listed, but give it another check).
  • Look for any devices with a yellow triangle, which indicates a driver issue.
  • If you find the webcam under Imaging devices, right-click and select "Update driver."

Rollback Driver:

  • If updating the driver doesn't work, you can try rolling back the driver to the previous version.
  • Right-click on the webcam in Device Manager, select "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and choose "Roll Back Driver" if available.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your system is up to date by checking for Windows updates.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a specific key during boot, like F2 or Del).
  • Check if there's an option related to the webcam, and make sure it's enabled.

Reinstall the Webcam Driver:

  • If the webcam is still not listed, you might need to reinstall the driver.
  • You can download the latest driver from the official HP support website for your laptop model.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started after the Windows 11 update, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a point before the update.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Open System Restore.

Check Hardware Connection:

  • Physically check the webcam connection. If it's an integrated webcam, it might be connected via a ribbon cable inside the laptop.

Remember to back up your important data before attempting any major changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
