Laptop Gaming Omen by HP 15-dc1007nq, Intel Core i7-8750H

Hi.

I would like to buy a HP Omen gaming laptop.

Model: Laptop Gaming Omen by HP 15-dc1007nq

CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H

I'm interested in the CPU, whether it is vulnerable to speculative side channel execution attacks or not.

I've asked Intel and they directed me to the manufacturer (which is you in this case).

Can you please advise?

Thank you very much!

The June 21, 2019 F.12 Rev. A BIOS update should address anything that can be handled by BIOS:

The vulnerability is from software not hardware.

HP did not make the CPU; Intel did so if anyone should know the answer it would be Intel. HPs installed i7-8750H would be no different than one installed by Lenovo or Acer or Asus in their laptops.

Hi.

But then how about the BIOS updates that some manufacturers pushed towards fixing this vulnerability?

What would be their role iin this case?

Thank you 🙂
