Pavilion 15-p027tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Laptop model is Pavilion 15-p027tx.

I have been experiencing weird issues regarding the laptop battery for the past few days.

At first, the battery icon on the taskbar showed the battery not detected. I needed to keep the laptop plugged in for it to remain to switch ON. Whenever removed from an external power source, i=the laptop would immediately turn OFF.

Thinking of it as a battery issue, I bought a new replacement battery. The new battery as well showed similar symptoms. So, I returned the new battery back and kept using the laptop with the charger plugged in all the time.

After some days, I removed the battery from the laptop and keep using it as earlier - like plugged in all the time.

A few days later, I inserted the same battery back in the laptop back and to my surprise, the battery showed the sign of working. It was detected and the charge percentage was incrementing when plugged in. Though it did not go above 73%, and when removed from the external power source, the battery backup ended within 20 minutes.

I reset the BIOS, the battery percentage showed 255%. I updated the BIOS, the battery percentage showed 0% but did not increment when plugged in. I uninstalled the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery device from the device manager and scanned for Hardware Changes, the battery percentage showed 3% but did not increment when plugged in.

I am guessing this as some hardware issue around the battery connector on Motherboard. I have seen a guy replacing a mosfet and register on Motherboard on youtube for a similar battery issue, video link here.

I have tried resetting and updating battery drivers, resetting and updating BIOS, resetting power on the laptop, running Power Troubleshooting, reinstalling Windows, etc. but still no luck.

Please guide me regarding this.

@abhi747 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are facing a battery issue.

In that case, I would suggets you conatct our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Or you can conatct the local service center for repair.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.
