Hi @Yanam1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop is not charging beyond 22%, this could be due to a few common issues. Let’s go through some steps to help you troubleshoot and fix it:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Check Battery Health
- HP laptops often have a Battery Check Tool in the HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant (search in Start Menu).
- Go to Battery Check and run a diagnostic.
- If the battery is weak or failing, it will show here.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the charger.
- If the battery is removable, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- Reinsert the battery and plug in the charger.
- Turn it on and check if it charges past 22%.
3. Check for Battery Conservation Settings
- Some HP laptops have a battery conservation mode that limits charging to preserve battery life.
- Check in:
- HP Command Center or BIOS settings
- Or in Windows Settings > Power & Battery > Battery Health Manager
4. Update Battery Drivers
- Open Device Manager:
- Expand Batteries
- Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
- Click Uninstall device
- Restart your laptop (Windows will reinstall it automatically)
5. BIOS Update
- An outdated BIOS can cause battery issues.
- Visit HP’s official support site and enter your laptop model to check for BIOS updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
