Hi @Yanam1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is not charging beyond 22%, this could be due to a few common issues. Let’s go through some steps to help you troubleshoot and fix it:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Check Battery Health

  • HP laptops often have a Battery Check Tool in the HP Support Assistant:
    • Open HP Support Assistant (search in Start Menu).
    • Go to Battery Check and run a diagnostic.
    • If the battery is weak or failing, it will show here.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger.
  • If the battery is removable, take it out.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reinsert the battery and plug in the charger.
  • Turn it on and check if it charges past 22%.

3. Check for Battery Conservation Settings

  • Some HP laptops have a battery conservation mode that limits charging to preserve battery life.
  • Check in:
    • HP Command Center or BIOS settings
    • Or in Windows Settings > Power & Battery > Battery Health Manager

4. Update Battery Drivers

  • Open Device Manager:
    • Expand Batteries
    • Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
    • Click Uninstall device
    • Restart your laptop (Windows will reinstall it automatically)

5. BIOS Update

  • An outdated BIOS can cause battery issues.
  • Visit HP’s official support site and enter your laptop model to check for BIOS updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
