Hi I am recently trying to add a ssd to my laptop because I found the stock hdd to sluggish for my use.
So as you can see, I am using the Omen 15-ax250wm and as far as I know it has a 1tb hdd installed in its sata slot.
So I was thinking about adding a M.2 ssd to the empty M.2 slot to use as the primary boot drive.
The ssd I chose was WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB PC SSD (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073SBX6TY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1) so I wanted to know if this is compatible with my laptop.
My second question is about migrating ther data from my hdd to ssd. and I figured I would plug in the ssd to my laptop using a m.2 to usb adapter(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHK9PXD/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3TJA36NYNJMMS&psc=1), and using the migration software by WD to migrate the data from the HDD(I am currently using 516gb of my hard drive so I figured I'd delete some files so it would be under 500gb and migrate the entire hdd to the ssd). Open up the computer and install the ssd in the M.2 slot. GO to bios and change the boot drive to ssd.
Is this correct? This is my first time doing this(this is mt first pc in fact), I tried to go to Bestbuy's geeksquad but they charge you $40 just to install the ssd and $99+ to transfer the datas so I figured I'd do it myself.
Ps. Also the geeksquad rep I talked to said something about windows 10 having a digital entitlement and that I would have to buy a new product key if I migrated the windows os from my hdd to ssd. Is this true?

Hi
https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/omen-by-hp-15-ax200-laptop-pc/13810162/model/17320032
OMEN by HP Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide | 4.32MB |
HP Notebook Hard Drives & Solid State Drives Identifying, Preventing, Diagnosing and Recovering from... | 0.22MB |
The W10 Licence/Activation Key is embedded on the Main Board and should Automagically accept your new install.
If you open up the PC and find that the existing HDD can stay in place and an M2 can be fitted, then the transfer board is not needed.
Booting may be a problem as the HDD will still be the Primary, so care must be taken to make the M2 primary.
If in doubt please ask.
