Hello, I was wondering if I could get any help with an issue I'm having with my laptop's (17-w102na) AC adapter. I bought a replacement part (same part number) but it only will say it is charging for a few seconds, then stops.
The original adapter still works fine, the power cable to the adapter is functioning fine and the laptop is running up-to-date BIOS and win10.
The one I am testing now is a replacement to the replacement, and both are exhibiting the same symptoms as listed earlier.
If anyone has any ideas why this is happening, that would be great.

Hi @JonTanti
I check the battery, it is probably the battery and not the charger.
When powering up the device press the F2 key repeatedly, enter diagnostics and select the battery, run the test and see if it has a fault ID or passes.

Hi!
Thanks for replying, pretty sure the issue is not the battery. I've ran the diags on it and it passes fine.
Do you have any ideas as to why the replacement adapter would show as charging for a few seconds then stop? It feels like such specific behaviour but I can't find anyone with a similar issue.

It is not possible, only the laptops of the business line can limit the load.
