Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After installing Windows 10 1909 on my laptop, keyboard and touch pad does not work.

Solved by updating the BIOS manually.

But while installing the Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver, again the keyboard and Touch Pad stopped working. It seemed to me the laptop enters to tablet mode and deactivates them.

I tried to delete the installed driver, didn't help.
Reinstalled the OS and updated the BIOS also didn't help

I see many people faced with this issue and could not solve.

Maybe some bug exists in the Integrated Sensor Solution Driver?

Hi @Uzbek_6565,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like the issue you’re experiencing with your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14, where the keyboard and touchpad stop working after installing the Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver, might be linked to how the device handles switching between laptop and tablet modes. The Integrated Sensor Solution Driver could indeed be buggy or misconfigured, causing the system to remain in tablet mode, where the keyboard and touchpad are disabled by design.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the issue.

Check Tablet Mode Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Tablet Mode.
  • Ensure the setting is set to "When I sign in, don't switch to tablet mode" or set it to "Use desktop mode" if you prefer.
  • Disable the option that says "Hide app icons on the taskbar in tablet mode" and "Automatically switch to tablet mode".

Disable Automatic Tablet Mode Switching

  • If the system is automatically switching to tablet mode due to sensor issues, you can disable this feature.
  • Open Action Center (Windows + A) and toggle Tablet Mode off if it's on.

Reinstall the Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver

  • Go to Device Manager > Sensors > Intel Integrated Sensor Solution.
  • Right-click and choose Uninstall. Make sure to check the box "Delete the driver software for this device".
  • Download the latest version of the driver from the HP support website or the Intel Driver & Support Assistant and install it manually.

Update All Related Drivers

  • Ensure that your chipset drivers and Intel I/O drivers are up to date. These drivers often work together to control hardware components like sensors, touch, and keyboard functionality.
  • Download these drivers from HP’s support page or using the Intel Driver Assistant tool.

Disable Intel Integrated Sensor Temporarily

  • If updating the driver doesn't work, you could disable the Intel Integrated Sensor Solution temporarily to check if the problem goes away:
    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Sensors.
    3. Right-click on Intel Integrated Sensor Solution and choose Disable device.
    4. Restart the laptop and check if the keyboard and touchpad work properly.

Rollback Windows Update (if Applicable)

  • If the issue started after a recent Windows Update, try rolling back to a previous version:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
    • Choose Go back to the previous version of Windows 10.

BIOS Update

  • You've already mentioned updating the BIOS, but ensure that you’re on the latest version. Sometimes additional bug fixes are included in newer releases.

Disable Sensor-based Functions in BIOS (if available)

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI by pressing Esc or F10 during startup.
  • Check if there are options to disable sensor-based functionalities or tablet mode control in the BIOS.
  • Save changes and reboot.

Microsoft Troubleshooter

  • Use the Windows Troubleshooter for hardware and devices.
  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Keyboard, and run the troubleshooter.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
