SSD Upgrade Help and Advice for HP Pavillion x360 convertible 14-ba095sa (Prod ID:IVJ32A#AB0)

Due to Microsoft constantly increasing the disk space required to do it's "compulsory" updates (rant over!), I need to upgrade the Sandisk 128GB M.2 SSD hard drive in my Pavilion x360 (14-ba095sa ).

I've opened the laptop case, and there is a big, empty hole where the SATA hdd would have gone, but no sign of the M.2 SSD. So!.. II would be very grateful if someone could help answer these two quick questions for me please?...

1) Is it actually possible to upgrade the SSD on this model ?

2) If it is, where do I find and replace the SSD pls?

Many thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.

Spencer

@scfk_uk Here's the list of SSD's tested and approved by HP to work on your device: click here to access your product's service and maintenance guide for reference on page. 45 > Compon... (As shown in the below image)

(As an upgrade/custom enthusiast I personally love the idea of upgrading the device as well, However, HP recommends that you go easy on it as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgradeable parts listed above are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion)

That said, here's what you can do, to increase free space without adding extra storage devices:

  • Run the Disk Cleanup tool, and then at the bottom of the window that pops up, click on "Clean up system files". Check everything, hit OK, and let it run. You will free up several GB for sure.
  • Another thing to do is disable hibernate file. Run CMD as Administrator, and type the following:
  • powercfg hibernate off
  • Enjoy your extra space!

P.S: Welcome to HP Community 😉

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
