I had to reload windows 7 pro operating system and now the 3.0 usb ports function as 2.0 ports, Before when I plugged in my usb hard drive the light on the hard drive was blue now it's white, I've loaded all the drivers on the support site I could find but still no go, the usb ports on the left side of the laptop have ss written on them, the ones on the right side have nothing on them.

Hi:

 

See if the usb driver directly from Intel works.

 

Download, unzip and run the setup application from the driver at the link below...

 

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22824/Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Controller-Driver-for-...

 

Also  check the BIOS and ensure the USB ports are set to USB3, and not auto.
