HP Spectre 13-af004na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I keep getting the error message "HP recommends using an original power adapter from HP." when I plug in the power supply. I have only had this laptop a week and only used the power supply which came with machine.  This notification pops up every time you plug in the power supply and every time the laptop starts with the power suply plugged in.  It is really annoying me now, is there a problem with the power supply or the laptop?

Hello chris822,

The AC adapter may be faulty. There's also a slight chance of the computer incorrectly interpreting the current. There are a few users on the Forum who have also reported problems with HP's SmartAdapter program.

You need to contact support.

Contact HP Worldwide here.

Check warranty status here.

Eddy
