Hi @Navy22

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly—seeing a persistent “BIOS recovery files cannot be found” message is understandably frustrating, especially when it interferes with basic login and the BIOS download options seem mismatched.

Here’s a structured recovery path tailored to your HP Pavilion x360 – 14-cd2053cl running Windows 11:

Step-by-Step Fix for BIOS Recovery Files Error

1. Use HP BIOS Recovery Tool (Windows 10 Version Is Valid)

Even though the HP support site lists BIOS updates under Windows 10, these files are still compatible with Windows 11, since BIOS operates independently of the OS.

  • Visit your model’s support page:
    HP Pavilion x360 14-cd2053cl Drivers & BIOS
  • Download the latest BIOS update utility (usually listed under “BIOS”).
  • Run the installer—it will create a recovery USB if needed.

2. Create a BIOS Recovery USB

If your system fails to boot or shows BIOS errors:

  • Use another Windows PC to run the BIOS update tool.
  • Choose “Create Recovery USB” when prompted.
  • Insert the USB into your Pavilion x360 and restart.
  • Press Windows + B, then hold Power for 2–3 seconds to initiate BIOS recovery.

3. Reset BIOS Settings

If your laptop boots normally but shows the error after locking:

  • Restart and press Esc repeatedly → choose F10 for BIOS Setup.
  • Press F9 to load defaults → F10 to save and exit.
  • This can clear corrupted BIOS flags that trigger recovery prompts.

4. Update HP Support Assistant and UEFI Diagnostics

You’ve already taken the right steps by trying to download the BIOS—let’s make sure your system boots cleanly and without interruptions. If you'd like help preparing the recovery USB or interpreting diagnostic results, I’m here to guide you through it.
